An 8-year-old child in Indio was critically hurt Monday afternoon after being mauled by his aunt’s Dog.
According to Riverside County Animal Services, the youngster was at his relative’s residence in the 47000 block of Calle Diamante at 3 p.m. when the Dog escaped from its cage and attacked him.
Several relatives fought off the Dog and separated him from the tiny kid, but not before he sustained terrible facial injuries.
His father drove him to the hospital, but he was evacuated to Loma Linda University Medical Center.
His status is unknown at this moment, according to Animal Services.
The owner of the Dog, a 2-year-old unmodified pitbull, has surrendered it to Animal Services, where it will be killed.
