Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada – Merlot, the beloved therapy dog of the Regina Police Service, has retired after five years of service.
Merlot, a black Labrador Retriever, was adopted by the Regina Police Service in 2015 and quickly became a beloved member of the force. Merlot was trained to provide comfort and support to victims of crime, as well as to police officers and their families.
Merlot was a regular presence at the Regina Police Service, attending crime scenes, court appearances, and community events. He was also a regular visitor to schools, hospitals, and other community organizations.
Merlot was known for his gentle and calming presence, and his ability to bring comfort to those in need. He was also a great listener, and was often seen with his head resting on the lap of a person in distress.
Merlot’s retirement was announced on the Regina Police Service’s Facebook page, where they thanked him for his years of service.
“Merlot has been an incredible asset to the Regina Police Service and the community,” said Chief Evan Bray. “He has provided comfort and support to countless people in need, and we are grateful for his service.”
Merlot will now enjoy a well-deserved retirement, spending his days relaxing and playing with his family. He will be greatly missed by the Regina Police Service and the community.
