As King Charles III and his wife Camilla begin their reign, their two beloved Jack Russell Terriers, Beth, and Bluebell, will join them at Buckingham Palace.
King Charles and Camilla, like the late Queen Elizabeth II, are ardent animal lovers, and it was Camilla who acquired Beth and Bluebell from the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in London in 2017.

Camilla previously stated on BBC Radio 5 Live, “The beautiful thing about dogs is you can sit them down, have a nice long discussion, you can be cross, you can be sad, and they simply sit gazing at you wagging their tail.
Camilla explained how Beth and Bluebell became a part of the family: “Along I went to Battersea, and Beth appeared, and she had just been dragged from pillar to post and dumped.”
“We thought she needed a friend,” the Queen Consort said. Bluebell was found two or three weeks later wandering around in the woods, with no hair on her. She was covered in sores, nearly dead. She was nursed and brought back to life, and her hair grew back. She’s very sweet but a tiny bit neurotic, we’ll say.”

While the two puppies will eventually join their parents in Buckingham Palace, ongoing renovations mean that the foursome will remain at Clarence House for the time being.
Beth and Bluebell are no strangers to the spotlight, having posed for a portrait with King Charles and Camilla to commemorate their 15th wedding anniversary in 2020.
Camilla’s pearl necklaces were also worn on the cover of the July 2022 issue of Country Life.
