Two toddlers were killed after being mauled by a pair of pitbulls outside a state park in the Memphis region, local media reported on Thursday.
According to a tweet from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, a two-year-old girl and a five-month-old child were declared dead at a residence in Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park, some 17 miles northeast of Memphis.
SCSO detectives are on scene at the 700 block of Sylvan Road near Shelby Forest State Park, where at about 3:30 pm two family dogs attacked a 2-year-old girl, a 5-month-old boy, and their mother in the home. The children were pronounced deceased on the scene. 1/2 pic.twitter.com/2IzlBedyjs

According to investigators, the children died when they and their mother were assaulted in their house by a pair of family pitbulls.
Police respond to a fatal dog attack in Tennessee.
According to police, the woman was rushed to the hospital in severe condition but was subsequently reported to have stabilized.
Following the incident, both canines were killed Thursday afternoon, according to officials.
Further information about the victims was not immediately available.
