The warning was issued after dozens of dogs became ill at a shelter in the North, with 20 of them dying.
Otsego County is reporting sick dogs, and university labs are starting to run testing to figure out what’s going on.
On Aug. 9, the Otsego County Animal Shelter posted on Facebook that dogs had been ill with what seemed to be parvo over the previous month.
”

The symptoms are there; most dogs were younger and died within three days, but their parvo tests were negative.
Dr. Dodd at MSU has decided to investigate further.
Dodd said.” We have collected samples from some dogs that have tested positive.”
It’s unclear why they didn’t test positive initially, but Dodd says this is just the beginning of the testing and wants to have additional data next week.
